China Fashion Week 2019

What an honour to be the first NZ designer to feature at China Fashion Week! It was such a fantastic experience from the hospitality to the culture, and of course photoshoots.

Some highlights of the trip:

~ Meeting couture designer Xiong Ying of Heaven Gaia and watching her magical show. The show was held at the Water Cube (where the 2008 Olympics swimming took place.) Her pieces and the show production was like nothing I have ever seen before. The integration of traditional Chinese heritage and modern couture design was truly eye-opening and inspiring.

Heaven Gaia

~ My first TV interview - and it happens to be on China's biggest TV network - CCTV2. It felt fulfilling sharing my brand and passion with fashion enthusiasts in China, my place of birth. As you may know, our beloved Instagram, Facebook, Youtube etc. are all blocked in China so having the ability to reach such a wide audience is very rare for foreign brands.

~ Photoshoots in Beijing's most iconic and breathtaking locations. Summer Palace, Forbidden City, and The Great Wall. Good thing my friend Sabby came on this trip because she is strong af. She lugged a giant suitcase full of dresses, heels, and makeup all around Summer Palace which was actually a hilarious sight! All photos will be on Instagram and Facebook by the end of this year so stay tuned :)

How To Measure

Here are some tips to take the most accurate measurements. It is recommended that you have a friend assist you or you do it in front of a mirror.

Bust: Place one end of the tape measure at the fullest part of your bust and wrap it around your body, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.

Waist: Find the narrowest part of your waist, located above your belly button and below your rib cage.

Lower hip: Measure the fullest part of your lower body. It is below the natural hip line and around 24cm below the waistline.

Skirt length: Measure how long you want the skirt to be, starting from the waist. Include the height of your heels.
